What's the purpose of your life?

Have you ever wondered, what is my purpose in life?  Are you working at a job that is un fulfilling and you wish you had more passion and zest for life?

A lot of people confuse purpose with career.   Yes, ideally you can find a way to make money from your most hobbies in life.   However,  are you willing to look back on life, years from now, and say "I wish I would have..."

Many times I have found myself not living my purpose because of a financial reason.  When I do that, something becomes very clear to me.  When I don't spend my time doing what I love to do, I feel empty and unfulfilled.   That brings me back to my question.   Am I willing to look back on my life, years from now,  and say "I wish I would have..." and the answer is "No!"

For me, knowing that I am making a difference in the lives of other people is my reward.   I would rather do what I love to do and feel fulfilled than to not do it because of a financial reason.

I believe we are all here to serve others with our own unique gift.  Discovering your gift takes time and effort.  Yet what greater joy could be felt than that og knowing why you are here and how you can use your life to its fullest.  To me, creating your life and using your gifts to serve others is when you discover inner peace and total fulfillment.  So what is your gift that you can use to serve the world?

The dreaded security line

I'm in line at security after my #expertsacademy event and like most I am making my way back home.   Standing in the line in total peace and awareness. I'm hearing the complaints of those around me who are not in a place of peace.

As I listen, I am reminded of why control is one of our core human drives. People are running late.   Concern,  panic and un ease are the general energy levels around me from some. For others the length of the line and the seemingly slow movement are not a concern. 

The difference came in the form of a plan.  Those who did not plan are blaming the security officers for their slow down.  Others think it's ridiculous how inefficient the process is.  But those who planned and are at total calm are the ones who have the control.  Those who are blaming and un easy of whether they will miss their plane or not are out of control.

If you want more control in your life.  Plan better.  We cannot predict the future but we can plan for possibilities.  It was possible the line would be long. So next time, plan effectively and take actions that are in line with the plan.  If you do that you'll find yourself using your time effectively and maybe even use it to write a great blog post.

How to wake up with more excitement!


What gets you up and out of bed in the morning?  For many people it's just their job.  But what if you could create a life where you woke up each day and what you did for the day was the J.O.B. that you LOVE!

I'm talking about your Journey Of Being.  What is your vision for what your life could be?  When you create your journey of being, you give yourself a new J.O.B. to wake up and look forward to each and every day.

How do you do this?  You create the environment in your mind of how you want your exact life to look.  The big misconception of success is that it just happens for some people.  However, people who are living the life that you want, didn't just get there, they arrived there.  But how do you arrive there?

Here is the #1 way to live the life you want to live.  You have to actually live in that place in your mind and show up as that person in your life every day.

So if your perfect life is a life of pure joy and happiness at all times.  Then you will want to create a vision of that life in your mind.  Each moment, you'll want to show up in your life as a person full of joy and happiness.  Be the person you want to be in the life you want to have.  Even if you don't know how it's possible, be it anyway and the clarity will come.

I witnessed how Angels get their wings!

I can't help but share this story or strength, courage and grace. 

As parents, we are thrust into a role of giving of ourselves always.  Some however, have to give so much more than others.  Many times it doesn't seem fair, but then again, who said life is fair?

I have a friend named Angela, and it wasn't until recently that I realized how she got her name and why angels get their wings.  She is a mom of 2 beautiful children.  A 12 year old daughter and a 3 year old son.  Her son, Frankie, was born with a rare, undiagnosed disease that basically forced them to live in the hospital for the first 2 years of his life.  I am please to say, that he is doing much better now.  However, his success was provided by his very brave older sister, Nina, who courageously had to undergo a bone marrow extraction that she donated to Frankie, so she could save the life of her brother.  It worked, and Nina, literally saved her brothers life.

They are still in and out of the hospital very regularly, usually a few times per week.  This requires a ton of sacrifice and time and resources and basically consumes Angela's life.  We are blessed to have 2 daughters of our own who are Ninas age and do what we can to help by having Nina over when they need us to. 

This brings me to my point.  Angela, through all of the challenges she already faces, recently developed a hemorrhage in her eye that caused her eye to turn out suddenly and she lost sight in her right eye.  She still managed to get to her daughter's cheer competition, which was two hours away and be there for her daughter to cheer her on.  The whole time, acknowledging what was happening in her life but saying, "We will get through it, I just need to stay positive!"

Last night she had emergency surgery to fix her eye.  Thankfully she is home and recovering.  Yet, not without the needs of her children and the responsibility of being a mom. 

That made me really thankful to witness true strength, courage and grace for myself.  Most people, spend their lives looking for what the world can give them.  Giving the least of themselves and expecting the most of everyone else.  But there are a rare few people in this world who give everything of themselves, and ask nothing in return. 

Those people are the angels on earth.

You see Frankie could have been born to a mom and dad who didn't give of themselves and do what needed to be done to love this child and help him live.  Nina didn't have to give of herself, she chose to give of herself for the betterment of someone else's life.

I ask you now, what are you giving of yourself without expecting anything in return? 

To answer the original question.  How do angels get their wings?  I give you this answer. 

I don't know how others get theirs.  But Angela got hers by being an angel to her children and she earned an "A"

The 90/10 Rule Of Life


If you think about what it really takes to succeed, it really only takes about 10% effort.  Unfortunately, the 10% I'm referring to is the last 10%.

So many people get so close to accomplishing a goal and then they stop.  You've probably heard the old story about the man who mines for years and only finds a little bit of gold and eventually gives up and sells the mine for a very small amount.  The man who buys it, begins digging in the same spot and in a short time he strikes a huge vein of gold!!

That is what happens to many people.  They get about 90% of the way to their goal, and then they stop and give up.  It's the reason people lose the same 20 pounds their entire life.   They do 90% of the work it takes to get to their goal weight, but don't do the last 10% of work it takes to stay there.

I'm no different.  I struggle with the 90/10 rule myself.  Most people don't reach the top of Mt. Everest, but they are 90% of the way there.  They are stopped by something and don't reach the summit.

The difference between reaching the top of Mt. Everest and reaching your personal goals is that failing to reach your goals is that typically one of the F.I.R.'s stop you.  The F.I.R.'s are your Fears, Influences and Reasons.

All three of these things are just thoughts and can be overcome.

Of course, there are real fears, real reasons and real influences that can stop you.  Much like a climber could get stopped because of a broken leg.  But the F.I.R.'s that stop most people are much more psychological than physical.

That is why I always recommend planning for the things that may try to stop you before setting out to achieve your goals.  If you know ahead of time what might get in your way, you can respond to them more quickly.

So plan for the 10% of what might stop you just before you reach your goals.

How to add a Google Plus follower list to your website


Someone, okay fine it was +Mike Bayes recently asked me how I added the Google + followers list to my blog and if he could add it to his website.  So like many things that I do, I said....."Uhhhhhh, Duhhhhh, I don't know" and then I went to work finding the answer.

Low and behold, some other smart person already figured it out and although I can't take the credit for teaching you how to do it, I'll take the credit for sharing it with you :)

To test it out, I put it on one of my sites to make sure it worked.  IT WORKS!  Holy crap, that's cool!  It shows immediate social proof for your website and engages the viewer.  "Hello, isn't that what we want?"

Is consistency Is The Key To Your Success


Have you ever wondered what is the missing piece to having what you want in your life? 

I know for me, I used to make the same new years resolutions over and over again each year.  I would believe it was possible to create the change I wanted in my life and I would take action.  The A and The B of success.  But I lacked the third critical element.

When I finally gave in to the fact (Yes you must surrender) that the only way I would ever have what I wanted was to be Consistent.  Everything began to change for me.

I discovered that even though consistency was the most difficult element of success, it was also the element that made my life easier!  Once I began getting up earlier every day so I could focus on my goals, guess what happened?  My goals began to be achieved more consistently.  My life got easier by doing the hard part!

Your life can get easier too if you just learn to be more consistent in your actions.  When you actions and your consistency meet, that's when you get what you want.  

How have you been lacking consistency?  Are you not eating the foods you need to eat?  Have you been consistently eating to much food and consistently not moving enough?  Have you been sleeping in instead of waking up to get things done?  Have you been not communicating with the people in your life and this is causing unspoken tension?  

Identify what you need to be doing more consistently and then DO IT!  Once you are more consistent, your life will get easier!

How To Overcome Setbacks Quickly


Please answer this question before reading this post - Are you human?  If yes, please read.

So many people get stuck because they feel like their mistakes define who they are as a person.  When they fail, they get stuck in a story of "I'm not good enough" or "Other people can do it, but not me."

What story do you get stuck behind that keeps you from reaching your peak?

I'm no different.  I used to get stuck behind my stories of not being good enough, not having what it takes, not being old enough or young enough.  Because I, much like you, am a human being and human beings make mistakes.  If you know you are going to screw up, then embrace it!

From now on, I want you to laugh at your mistakes as part of your creators greatest joke.  You were made as a perfectly imperfect creature who has to fail in order to succeed.  If you are not making mistakes, and if you are not messing up and failing, it's because you aren't doing something worth failing at in the first place!

I guarantee, you won't mess up or fail at watching television!  I guarantee, you won't fail or make any mistakes bringing the spoon of ice cream from the bowl to your mouth.  However, I won't guarantee that when you are working toward a goal, you won't mess up.  I won't guarantee that if you want to lose weight that you won't fall off track.

You might mess up, but don't give up....

Here are the three things you need to do in order to mess up, get up and get back on track quickly!

1.  Accept it!  You messed up!  It's going to happen!  Stop attending the pitty party where you are the host and the only guest.  Those parties are lonely places!

2.  Acknowledge it!  You were not living in the way you are committed to living.  It doesn't mean that you aren't the person you are committed to being!

3.  Communicate it!  You need to communicate to the people effected.  If you messed up and it effected others, talk to them about it.  Acknowledge that you were not living how you want to live and then re-commit to being who you want to be.

I see people all the time, blaming people for how their life goes.  All the while, never taking responsibility for what happens to them.  WAKE UP PEOPLE!

You are never going to have the life you want unless YOU create it for yourself.  Don't make your life the result of someone else's actions.  MAKE YOUR LIFE THE RESULT OF YOUR OWN ACTIONS!!!

How To Create The Time You Need To Achieve Your Goals

How can you create the time you need in your life to accomplish your goals?

This is a great question, with a somewhat disappointing answer.  I'm going to disappoint you first, and then enlighten you!

The disappointing news is that you can't "Create" time any more than it's already been created.  What?  Here is what that means.  In the philosophical sense, time doesn't actually exist.  All we have are moments.  Time is was created by people as a way to measure.  If you didn't have any way to measure time, you would just have this moment.  So unfortunately, not you or anyone else can create time.  You can only create measurements of how you will use your moments.

I know that is a bit deep, and not needed for time management skills.  However, it's important to understand that time management is a myth.  You don't manage your time.  You commit to what you are going to do in the moments of your life.

I'll give you an example.  

Do you have to manage the time you go to work every day?  No.  You commit to that time because it matters to you.  Do you manage the time you watch your favorite show on television?  No.  You commit to that time because it matters to you.  This is the same for everything else in your life.  You commit to what matters to you in the moment.  If you didn't have a watch, or a clock, you would just do what mattered to you at the time.

Why do we commit time to something?  

We commit time because something matters.  You commit time to your job because it matters that you get paid and if you don't show up, you don't get paid.  You commit time to your spouse, kids or significant other because having that relationship matters to you.  Anything you commit to doing, at any time in your life, only happens when it matters to you.

So what matters to you?  

I'll tell you what matters to me.  Helping people better their lives, matters to me.  That is why I "Create" the time to get up every morning and create ways to help people better their lives.  My family matters to me.  That is why I spend a lot of time with them.  My time matters to me. That is why I guard it as my most precious resource.  

So what matters to to you?  Only you can answer that question.  When you decide what matters to you in your life, you will choose to create the time to make it happen.

Why You NEED to follow Brendon Burchard!



+Brendon Burchard has quickly, by far, become my personal mentor and someone who I have the utmost respect for in everything he does.  I follow him, because he leads me where I want to be in my life, and you should too.

Why do I say that?  First, you should know that I, like many, don't know Brendon personally.  Though I am going to meet him exactly 1 month from today!  "AAAHHH So excited!"  When you meet him for the first time, whether it's by one of his enlightening videos or via some social media post, you will know one thing about him.  HE CARES ABOUT YOU!

In today's world, it's rare to find someone who is constantly thinking about "How can I help you?"  But that is Brendon, at his core. 

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail about his story, because he tells it best.  Let me just say, it moves you, so listen to him, with a completely open heart and mind.  

His passion and enthusiasm for life and helping you succeed are infectious and that can only come from a place of pure great-fullness.  You need to follow +Brendon Burchard either on Google plus or Facebook.  He will change your life!

This brings me to my thought and post for today....



What is it about Brendon, or anyone else who we are drawn to as human beings?

People give...remember that statement.  Everyone, no matter who you are, you give to others.  However, we only give what we are full of in our lives.  In fact, it's not even what we are full of, it's what we are overflowing with in our life, at our core, in our heart and in our soul.  

I'm sure you know a lot of people who are "Full of it!"  That's what they give.  Whatever it is.  So for a guy like Brendon, who is full of love and thankfulness and passion and purpose.  Someone who is full of zest, and enthusiasm and life itself, that's what they give.  

We all give to others what we are full of in our life.  So what are you full of?  What are you overflowing with?  What pours out of you and on to the world around you?  Are you great-full of something that people are going to want to immerse themselves in, bask in the glory of, and stay in forever?  

If you are the type of person who wants to make an impact in this world, you need to monitor your "Great-Fullness."  What you are great-full-of is what you share with the world.

Be Great-Full of love.... 
Be Great-Full of passion....
Be Great-Full of enthusiasm.....

Be Great-Full of life itself and you will flood this world in what it needs and when you do that, people want to live in your world, forever!

What can snow can teach us about mindset?

The new fallen snow is a beautiful site.  It covers over trash and dirt and creates a feeling of freshness and a new start.  Here is a way to think about using snow to create a positive life!


Snow fall is one of the most beautiful sites that this world offers us.  It reminds us of the beauty of the world around us because it covers over the dirt and the trash and makes it seem like it never existed in the first place.  It's magical and it can teach us a lot about how we can reprogram ourselves to cover over the dirt and trash of our past and create a fresh start toward our future.

Think of each of your thoughts as a single snow flake. By itself, it would be hardly noticeable. One single thought in the world of thoughts that happens in our heads every day. It's pretty insignificant in terms of the amount of thoughts we have every day. And a single snow flake can would be covered by dirt quicker than we could notice its beauty on the ground.

But let's take in a step further and imagine that 60 snow flakes were to fall in front of us. We would probably notice and even have a new feeling. We might even make a mention to someone like "Oh Look It's Snowing!" And yet still if the only flakes that fell were those same 60, it would pass and move out of our lives and soon be forgotten and replaced by the dirt and trash of the world around us.

So let's think about this in the terms of our thoughts.  If we took 60 seconds to focus on the positive things in our lives and use positive words in our heads to remind us of the beauty and possibility of our lives, it would create a positive feeling in our lives and we may even mention to someone "Wow I feel good after taking a minute to focus on the good things in my life" and yet, if that were all we did it would certainly help, but the positive thoughts would be replaced by the dirt and trash of the world around us. 1 minute in 1 day can make a difference, but if that's all you ever did, it would not impact your life.

However let's look at the compounding effect of our thoughts over time. 60 seconds per day = 21,900 seconds of positive focused thoughts in 1 year. So let's take this a step further and see how we can make a significant difference in your life, just like the consistent snow fall can make the world look like a new magical land of beauty.

Imagine for a minute, an hour of consistent snow fall, but think again that it's not something that happens all at once, it's a single flake, on top of another single flake and over time it covers what's beneath it. If you were to compound one positive thought each second for just 1 hour per day, you would think 1,314,000 positive thoughts per year! But lets be realistic about the fact that you're probably not going to find a quiet spot and focus on your positive thoughts for a whole hour each day. Yet, do you think that you could focus 10 minutes in the morning when you first wake up and the last 10 minutes before you go to sleep at night to focus on nothing but the positive things that you want to happen in your life, or the things you are grateful for, or the positive thoughts in your life?  I would bet, when you notice how this practice effects your life, you will find time to focus on what you want!

That's a great way to start to see significant changes in your life with regards to how you see your life and your future. But much like ANYTHING else we do in our lives, it not going to make a big impact if you only do it once in your life and then forget about it. But if you were to do this consistently for a month, it would make a major impact in your mindset and your ability to continue to have these positive thoughts throughout the day.

That's what your goal would be in making these small changes. By doing them consistently over time, you're creating new habits that begin to become something that you do without even realizing it any more. By focusing on your positive thoughts, you're creating the habit of doing it on a regular basis without even realizing it any more. It's the same with anything we do consistently over time, both good and bad habits are formed over time.

So how do you start? Success is as simple as the ABC's!


There are many people with the highest degrees from the best schools that are still working dead end jobs.  Being well educated or flooding yourself with information does not lead to success.  Don't get me wrong, education, information and learning about a subject are VERY important.  However, they are not the most important aspects of your success.

It's summed up in one word...ACTION!

I like to keep things REALLY SIMPLE, because I've found that if something is complicated, it's not being done correctly. Life, success, and creating a reality that exceeds your dreams are all simple, if you follow these simple steps.

We're going to use the ABC method from now on to break down everything you want to achieve into small, manageable steps. Here is the ABC method in simple terms.

A = Action
B = Belief
C = Consistency

If you combine these 3 elements, you're guaranteed to find success in what you want to achieve. So now I'd like to break down these 3 elements a bit to explain exactly what I mean by each one.

These points are the foundation of success and must be the basis of each and every thing that you want to achieve from this point on.

Action - Taking action is the point in time where you stop trying. It's the very moment when you realize that "Trying" doesn't exist. You simply can't "Try" to do anything. You either are.....or you're not.

People say it all the time...."I'm trying to lose weight" - "I'm trying to quit smoking" - "I'm trying this....I'm trying to do that...." It's a habit that has been formed over time. The reality is, if you say that you're "Trying" to do something, you don't have the second critical element of success that we're going to talk about next.

Belief - Belief in yourself, belief that you WILL accomplish your goal, belief that you, and you alone, are responsible for your own success and your own failure. You must believe that you are the person who creates your life. It's YOUR design, and it's YOUR responsibility to make it the life that exceeds your dreams.

You must belief and take action!  The best way to do that is through a declaration. When you tell others what you are going to do, you set a standard for yourself and make yourself accountable. You'll find that when you begin to make declarations of your actions, you're holding yourself to a higher standard.

So, for instance, the person that says "I'm trying to lose weight" does not have the belief they need to ultimately succeed. They have given themselves an out. And if they ultimately fail to complete their goal, it's okay, because they said they were just "Trying." They never actually said they were going to do it. Right?

However, let's look at the statement again. "I am going to lose weight." It a declaration of a specific action and it comes through with conviction and a sense of belief that they are going to accomplish what they say they are going to do.

Now, can that person still fail to accomplish what they said they were going to do? Yes, if they don't apply the third critical element of success...

Consistency - I truly believe that this is the most difficult of the 3 elements. It's the word that causes most people to fail. But it's also the word that can be the most powerful of the 3 critical elements of success.

Consistency, is the act of doing a specific action over and over again. You'll see that the word "action" exists within this definition. So if someone consistently follows through on the declared action "I am going to lose weight" then they MUST succeed. It's only until they break the cycle of consistency that you can indeed fail.

I hope this gives you a simple ABC, method for accomplishing what you want in life.

Put the S.M.A.C.K. Down! on your goals!




Sometimes I just want to walk up to people, smack them in the face and say "WAKE UP! You can live an extraordinary life!" 

Okay, so maybe I don't really want to smack them, because I'm not at all a violent person. 

However, I do want to put the S.M.A.C.K. down on them. Because most people just go through life, living a good life. So how is it that some people live extraordinary lives?
In my other post, "The ABC's Of Success" I taught you the simplest way to succeed at anything you want. Living an extraordinary life really is about the ABC's of success. Most people have no idea what "A" to take and how to be "C." However, none of that matters if you don't "B!"

What the heck am I talking about? The ABC's are a success equation and if you leave an element out, just like math, the equation doesn't work. Just like your goals, unless you do the work, having the life you want... doesn't add up! So let's get to work and put the smack down on your goals!

Years ago, "The Secret" came out and had everyone excited about their life again. People saw a new vision for their life and their belief was through the roof about what their life could be. So why is it, that most people haven't changed a single thing about their life?  I'll tell you, it's because the secret that wasn't told to you is that you actually have to do something toward the achievement of your goals in order to get what you want in your life.

"OOOHHHH, I actually have to DO something?  I can't just sit on the couch, watch shows about mansions and yachts and eat cheese doodles?  I actually have to work for what I want in my life.  That sure was a secret to me!" People said. "But what do I do? I want to be rich, and happy, and achieve my goals, but it doesn't seem like anything like that has happened for me. I guess this stuff just doesn't work"

NEWSFLASH! This stuff works! BUT NOT IF YOU DON'T! So wake up! Get off the couch and start putting the smack down on what you want in your life. Of course, you need to know what you want in order to actually work on it right? So where do you think a good place to start would be? How about by identifying what you want for your life!

Here is the 'S' in putting the smack down. Be SPECIFIC about what you want. Be specific about the steps you need to take in order to get what you want. Begin creating the life you want by being specific.

But haven't you been specific before? Haven't you, every year on new years day, been specific about what you want? Probably. But what you haven't been is motivated by your why. The 'M' is to be MOTIVATED by your WHY. Unless what you want matters to you on a deeply personal level, you won't maintain the motivation to achieve your goals.

The 'A' in the ABC's of success has a lot to do with the 'A' in putting the smack down. But they aren't the same. This 'A' is to be ACHIEVING. What are you achieving? Specific, Motivating steps toward your goal. Setting big goals in life isn't a scary thing. Especially when you break them down into smaller, achievable steps. Achieve your smaller goals, and you'll eventually achieve your major life goals.

If you have a motivational reason why, you'll likely have the 'C' you need to succeed. You need to be COMMITTED! Commitment is doing what you said you would do, long after the mood you said it in has disappeared. It's not easy to live the life you want, but it is simple! Be committed and you'll have the life you want.

Finally, KEEP GOING! The 'K' is to keep going and stay in momentum. You might fall off track now and again, but you're not derailed like a freight train, you're a human. People make mistakes and fall off track. Just because you fail doesn't mean you are a failure. The only way to truly fail at a goal, is to give up completely. So keep going!
